A Simple LRF rig
The Carolina rig is a simple LRF, light rock fishing, rig with a sliding weight.
Carolina Rig Components
1 x worm style hook, this can be a straight or offset hook
1 x swivels
1 x bead, glass or metal
1 x 300 to 600mm length of clear nylon or flourocarbon, the longer the length the slower the lure will sink back to the bottom
1 x bullet weight or drilled bullet
The Rig Body
1. Tie the hook onto the trace line and attach the swivel approximately 300 to 600mm away.
2. Thread weight and the bead onto the leader from the main line and tie to the other side of the swivel.
Instead of tying direct to the leader a second trace length can be used with a swivel attached to allow the terminal tackle to be quickly changed.
A small piece of silicon tubing can be utilised between the bead and the swivel knot to protect the line.
The idea of the glass or metal bead is to produce a rattle when the lure is worked.
The plastic bait can be rigged in several ways but one of the most common is using an offset hook to provide a weedless or semi-weedless rig.
