The England Youth team pulled off an amazing victory in the FIPS-Mer World Shore Championships. Lying 5th after the first day they climbed the table of the next three days of the event to pip the favourites Spain on count back. The event was closely contended throughout and the young lads are to be praised for their skill and commitment in securing the gold medal. The Netherlands finished in third place overall.
The icing on the cake was when Oliver Hopkins lifted the individual gold, top class fishing by any standards.
