Skegness Pier Angling Club – January 2014

by Chas Tibble

Wrangle’s Alan Steadman carried his run of good form into the New Year, winning the first Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match of 2014, held in good conditions at Trunch Lane. Catches were poor, with Alan winning his third match on the trot with a dab and a decent whiting, for a total weight of 1lb 11oz. He also won the heaviest round fish prize with his whiting, which tipped the scales at 1lb 4oz. Close behind in second place was Kettering’s Jim Robinson, whose three dabs weighed in at 1lb 7½oz. His best dab was a 15oz specimen, which was worthy winner of the heaviest flatfish award. Skegness local Dave Bradley beached three small whiting to finish third with 12¾oz.

The SPAC AGM will be held on Saturday 22nd February commencing at 7:30pm in the New Park Club, Scarborough Avenue, Skegness. All current and prospective members are invited to attend. The annual Trophy Presentation and social event will take place immediately after the AGM, including a grand raffle and buffet.

The next SPAC match will be held on Saturday 18th Jan from 5 until 9pm at Bohemia Point, with Club members fishing for the Coleman Cup. There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate. For further information please contact SPAC Secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988 or chastibble@hotmail.com
