Weather worries put to rest Steve “Madpolka” Parker heads out from Weymouth aboard Supanova II for what turned out to be a cod catching day of a lifetime.

As a driver of a desk from Monday to Friday a day at sea can often stretch muscles I rarely use. As I sit and write this my back and shoulders are stiffening to an extent that tells me yesterday was a truly remarkable day’s sport! So here’s how a terrific day afloat from Weymouth unfolded as we found the blonde ray.
I always think fishing is a bit of a roller coaster ride with good days and tough days with just enough encouragement on the tough days to keep you coming back. Then there are days like the 7th June 2014 out of Weymouth on Atlanta when it all falls in to place at once.
If January and February were about variety and chopping and changing tactics to deliver a day’s sport then March is the exact opposite. Today we had one “all or nothing” plan which Dave Pitman, skipper of Atlanta out of Weymouth, executed to perfection.
