Plug – These can be surface or sinking lures that are made from plastic or wood. They have a diving vane at the head and may contain rattles inside designed to create a disturbance underwater. Plugs, or crankbaits as they are known in the States, are armed with one of more treble hooks. Rapala are one of the best know manufacturers of this effective bass lure.
Pirking – The action of fishing a pirk. Popular in particular for cod fishing. It consists of dropping the attached pirk to the sea bed then working the pirk with a lift and drop action. Lighter pirks may be cast up-drift and worked back to the boat to maintain the optimal vertical position for longer.
