Quiver Tip – A thin, flexible rod tip used to indicate bites from smaller fish. Favoured by match anglers when scratching.
Pulley rig – A rig designed to ensure that on the retrieve the weight is above the hooked fish and to reduce the risk of snagging.
Priest – A weighted club used to dispatch fish being kept for the table.
Predatory fish – Any fish that prey on other living creatures, particularly other fish.
Power Gum – An elasticated line used for stop knots.
Poppers – Surface lures that have a concave nose that “pops” the water when jerked.
Plug – These can be surface or sinking lures that are made from plastic or wood. They have a diving vane at the head and may contain rattles inside designed to create a disturbance underwater. Plugs, or crankbaits as they are known in the States, are armed with one of more treble hooks. Rapala are one of the best know manufacturers of this effective bass lure.
Plastics – A generic term covering any lure made from soft plastic such as jellyworms and shads.

Pirking – The action of fishing a pirk. Popular in particular for cod fishing. It consists of dropping the attached pirk to the sea bed then working the pirk with a lift and drop action. Lighter pirks may be cast up-drift and worked back to the boat to maintain the optimal vertical position for longer.
